We are delighted to announce that conductor Marta Kluczyńska has been appointed Deputy Director of the Polish Royal Opera in Warsaw, effective October 2025.
Recognized for her charismatic artistry and wide-ranging operatic, ballet, and symphonic repertoire, Kluczyńska has long collaborated with leading Polish institutions. At the Polish National Opera and Ballet, she made her debut at age 24 and went on to serve as Music Director of the Polish National Ballet (2021–2024), culminating in the internationally acclaimed premiere of Pinocchio. She has also led world premieres and revivals of rediscovered Polish operas, as well as major ballet productions such as Cinderella, Romeo and Juliet, and Giselle.
Her career includes guest appearances with companies across Europe, including the Birmingham Royal Ballet, Opera Wrocławska, Teatr Wielki in Łódź, Teatr Wielki in Poznan and the Landestheater Coburg, as well as collaborations with orchestras such as Sinfonia Varsovia, NOSPR, and the Wuppertal Symphony Orchestra. Since 2018, she has been the Artistic Director of the summer opera festival at Nieborów Castle, preparing annual open-air productions that bring opera to new audiences.
This new role marks an important continuation of her relationship with the Polish Royal Opera, where she has been regularly invited to conduct several productions. The Opera praised her as an artist “constantly searching for new interpretative paths and for unusual repertoire worth presenting to a wider audience.”
Marta Kluczyńska’s appointment underlines her position as one of the most versatile conductors of her generation. With her passion for both rediscovered Polish works and the international canon, she will bring fresh vision and leadership to the Polish Royal Opera’s artistic profile.
