Ook bariton Roman Burdenko is sterk, gedeeltelijk als invaller, in een driedubbelrol, al direct als de Proloog die waarschuwt dat we mensen van vlees en bloed te zien zullen krijgen, wat je hier heel dubbelzinnig moet opvatten, daarna als de mismaakte reus Tonio in Pagliacci en als de ongelukkige bedrogen Alfio in Cavalleria.
