One of Russia's most sought after young conductors, Timur Zangiev, at the age of 25 already holds an "Honorable Artist" title from his home country. A regularly invited conductor at the Mariinsky Theater in St. Petersburg, Zangiev will be making his debut at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow with Sadko. Rimsky-Korsakov's opera will be staged by the famed direcotor Dmitri Tcherniakov. The much anticipated premiere will be taking place on the February 14, 2020.  

Rimsky-Korsakov’s masterpiece Sadko, nowadays rarely performed outside Russia, will get a new interpretation at the Bolshoi Theatre. The story about modern people obsessed with ambitions and doubts, will be played in front of the historic scenery, based on the sketches of famous Russian artists Vasnetsov, Bilibin, Roerich, Korovin and Egorov.

Timur Zangiev’s other highlights of 2019/20 include a double bill of a ballet production with the music by Bizet/Offenbach at the Bolshoi Theatre, as well as a new production of The Rake’s Progress at the Stanislavsky Theatre. There Zangiev is also scheduled to conduct several repertoire titles. Zangiev will return to the  Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg, where he will be taking the musical lead of the Mozart and Salieri, Kashchey the Immortal, The Tale of Tzar Saltan productions.
