Aigul Akhmetshina and Giorgi Sturua in the “Tipped for the TOP in 2020” list

Thrilling news for the young rising stars of TACT! The latest issue of “Opera Now’ includes Aigul Akhmethina, mezzo-soprano, and tenor Giorgi Sturua in their list of the most promising young artists “Tipped for the TOP in 2020”.

 

Aigul Akhmetshina, the youngest Carmen ever to take the stage of the London Royal Opera House at Covent Garden, is a graduate of the famed Jette Parker program. This season, Akhmetshina made a stunning debut at the Wexford Festival Opera as Dulcinea in the production of Jules Massenet's Don Quixotte, earning praise from the critics and opera fans alike. Akhmetshina looks forward to a number of exciting performances in the coming months -  Polina in Pique Dame in Teatro di San Carlo in Naples, Olga in Eugene Onegin with the Israeli National Opera, Hannah in The Passenger at the Teatro Real Madrid. 

An “ultra-gifted tenor”, Giorgi Sturua, is busy preparing for his Bayerische Staatsoper debut as Grigoriy in Boris Godunov in March as well as his forthcoming appearance at the Teatro Municipal de Santiago Chile as Macduff in Macbeth.
