Iwona Sobotka has received great critical acclaim for her return concert at the Barbican with London Symphony Orchestra and Sir Simon Rattle, where she stars in Berg’s Lulu and Beethoven 9th Symphony.

"The apotheosis was reached in Iwona Sobotka’s singing of that central Lied; with a strong, glowing upper register, the Polish soprano encapsulated the soundworld of Berg’s anti-heroine.[...] Sobotka returned at the end of the evening for Schiller’s finale in the Beethoven, at the head of a quartet of soloists [...]. They were excellent."  - John Alison - The Telegraph

"Iwona Sobotka, who soared through the Beethoven solo soprano lines, had in the first half been the soloist in Berg’s Lulu Suite, her tone luscious, her highest notes teetering on the edge of vulnerability." - Erica Jeal, The Guardian

"Iwona Sobotka’s lustrous soprano, and her gleaming tone and accuracy above the stave were ideal in the central Lied der Lulu and in the final despairing appeal of Countess Geschwitz." - Roy Westbrook, Bachtrack

"All four soloists in the choral finale were excellent. [..] Sobotka was also the soloist in Berg’s Lulu Suite, here projected with a real sense of the character, for all the questionable morality that surrounds the opera, as true to herself: again total conviction from Sir Simon and his performers." - John Koli,  Moose Gazette

With 2020 being a Beethoven's 250th Anniversary Year, this season Iwona can be heard performing Beethoven's "Christ on the Mount of Olives" with Berliner Philharmoniker and Sir Simon Rattle , Beethoven’s “Mass in C major” with Utrecht TivoliVredenburg under the baton of Karina Canellakis, “Missa Solemnis”  with Tokyo Opera Nomori and Szczecin Philharmonic, Beethoven’s 9th with Berlin Rundfunkchor & Berlin Rundfunk Sinfonieorchester, lead by Gijs Leenaars.
