The shortlist for 2020 International Opera Awards was announced yesterday, with tenor Konu Kim among the finalists in the “Young Singer” category.

“The shortlist was compiled by an impressive international jury drawn from a range of backgrounds including critics, opera directors, conductors and designers, chaired by John Allison, editor of Opera magazine (the Founding Media Partner of the Awards) and classical music critic of The Daily Telegraph. The winners of all categories, except the Readers’ Award, will also be decided by the jury. “ - the press release states. 

The winners will be announced on May 4 2020 at the Gala Event at London’s Sadler’s Wells. 

Operalia 2016 winner and former member of Jette Parker Young Artists Programme of the Royal Opera House, this season Konu Kim made notable appearances as Leone in Donizetti’s Ange de Nisida at Donizetti Opera Festival, Bergamo, as  Count Almaviva in Il Barbiere di Siviglia with Novel Opera Freiburg, and is currently rehearsing for his debut at Müpa Budapest as Elvino in La Sonnambula, opening on February 9th.
