Dmytro Popov, tenor

Ukrainian tenor Dmytro Popov made his international debut as Alfredo in Traviata (Jonathan Miller, stage director) in Norway. After the premiere he was immediately engaged by the Norwegian National Opera to sing the same role in their new Traviata production.

Dmytro Popov's repertoire includes meanwhile roles such as Vladimir in Kniaz Igor, Prince in Rusalka, Kuragin in War and Peace, Lykov in Tsar's bride, Lensky in Eugene Onegin, Vaudemont in Iolanta, Andrei in Mazeppa, Enzo in La Gioconda, Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly, Des Grieux in Manon Lescaut, Alfredo in La Traviata, Duca in Rigoletto, Riccardo in Un ballo in maschera.

 

Recent engagements include Duca in Rigoletto (Dalhalla Opera Festival, Sweden), Nicias in Taïs by Massenet (Teatro Regio, Torino, Italy), a Solo Concert in Concertgebouw Amsterdam, The Netherlands, Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor (Stuttgart), Solo Concerts in The Netherlands and Belgium (Flemish Philharmonic Orchestra), and The Bells by Rachmaninov (Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, A. Papano, conductor).

 

Future plans include Rodolfo in Luisa Miller, Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor (Stuttgart), Don José in Carmen (Norwegian National Opera), Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly (Deutsche Oper Berlin,Dalhalla Opera Festival, Sweden), Lykov in Tsar's Bride by Rimsky-Korsakov (London, Covent Garden), Prince in Rusalka by Dvorak (Munich), and Andrey in Mazzeppa (Monte-Carlo).

 

Dmytro Popov is 2nd prize winner at the Placido Domingo Operalia World Contest 2007.
