Julia Novikova, soprano

Julia Novikova made her professional stage debut with Mariinsky theatre, performing Flora in The Turn of the Screw (Valery Gergiev, conductor) and has been fixed engaged at Theater Dortmund for two seasons.

She has performed Olympia in Les Contes d'Hoffmann, Rosina in Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Queen of Shemakha in The Golden Cockerel, and Gilda in Rigoletto, among others.

 

She has performed Königin der Nacht in Die Zauberflöte (Frankfurt and Bonn), Medoro in Vivaldi's Orlando Furioso, Oscar in Un Ballo in Maschera, Blonde in Die Entführung aus dem Serail (all in Bonn), Gilda in Rigoletto (Lübeck), Olympia in Les Contes d'Hoffmann (Komische Oper Berlin).

 

More recently she has performed Rosina (Stuttgart) and made her debut as Queen of Night at Vienna State Opera, Berlin State Opera and Hamburg.

 

Julia Novikova has just made her role debut as Zerbinetta in Ariadne auf Naxos (Strasbourg).

 

Upcoming engagements include concerts in Carnegie Hall, New York, Berliner Philharmonie, Gala Concert in Budapest State Opera (cond. Adam Fisher), Gilda in Rigoletto (Komische Oper Berlin and Bonn), Adina in L'elisir d'amore, Amina in La Sonnambula (Bonn), Gretel in Hänsel und Gretel (Lyon), Norina in Don Pasquale (Washington), Olympia in Les Contes d'Hoffmann (Frankfurt), and the roles of Zerbinetta, Adèle, Queen of Night, Sophie, Oscar, and Gilda in Vienna State Opera.

 

Julia Novikova is a Price Winner of Wilhelm Stenhammar International Music Competition in Sweden (3rd Prize, 2006), Concours de Geneve (Audience Prize, 2007), Neue Stimmen, Germany (Audience Prize, 2007), Musik Debüt, Germany (1st Prize, January 2008), and both the 1st Prize and the Audience Prize at OPERALIA 2009 Plácido Domingo The World Opera Competition in Budapest.
