Julia Novikova, soprano

Julia Novikova made her professional stage debut with Mariinsky theatre, performing Flora in The Turn of the Screw (Valery Gergiev, conductor) and has been fixed engaged at Theater Dortmund for two seasons. She sang Olympia in Les Contes d'Hoffmann, Rosina in Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Queen of  Shemakha in The Golden Cockerel, and Gilda in Rigoletto, among others.

 

She has performed Königin der Nacht in Die Zauberflöte (Frankfurt and Bonn), Medoro in Vivaldi's Orlando Furioso, Oscar in Un Ballo in Maschera, Blonde in Die Entführung aus dem Serail (all in Bonn), Gilda in Rigoletto (Lübeck), Olympia in Les Contes d'Hoffmann (Komische Oper Berlin).

 

Julia Novikova has appeared as Königin der Nacht in Die Zauberflöte (Frankfurt and Bonn), Medoro in Vivaldi's Orlando Furioso, Oscar in Un Ballo in Maschera, Blonde in Die Entführung aus dem Serail (all in Bonn), Gilda in Rigoletto (Lübeck), Olympia in Les Contes d'Hoffmann (Komische Oper Berlin).

 

More recently she has performed Zerbinetta in Ariadne auf Naxos (Strasbourg), Rosina in Il Barbiere di Siviglia (Stuttgart), Opera High Lights Concert in Carnegie Hall (New York), and made her debut as Queen of Night at Vienna State Opera, Berlin State Opera, and Hamburg State Opera.

 

She has just made her role debut as Adina in L'elisir d'amore (Bonn) and as Gretel in Hänsel and Gretel (Lyon).

 

Upcoming operatic engagements include Gilda in Rigoletto (DVD Recording, cond. Zubin Mehta, Komische Oper Berlin and Bonn), Amina in La Sonnambula (Bonn), Norina in Don Pasquale (Washington), Olympia in Les Contes d'Hoffmann (Frankfurt and Komische Oper Berlin), and the roles of Zerbinetta, Susanna, Queen of Night, Sophie in Rosenkavalier, and Oscar in Un Ballo In Maschera (all at Vienna State Opera).

 

Julia Novikova is the Prize Winner of many international singers competitions including Musik Debüt, Germany (1st Prize, 2008) and OPERALIA Plácido Domingo The World Opera Competition (both the 1st Prize and the Audience Prize, 2009), among others.
